Viagra was used by doctors to save the life of a premature baby successfully.

The baby’s name is Lewis Goodfellow and was born at 24 weeks weighing just 1lb 8oz.

Doctors tried many drugs including Sildenafil, which is a trade name of Viagra which helped save the baby’s life.

He has a lung failure and was not getting enough oxygen to the bloodstream. The drug Viagra opened up tiny blood vessels in the baby’s lungs and saved his life.

Ms Goodfellow talked about the doctors stating that the “Doctors said he couldn’t be given any more oxygen.

“They were just clutching at straws basically. They explained it was experimental and may not have any effect at all.”

His mother stated that “I don’t think you could put into words how we feel.

“The doctors are worth their weight in gold. We admire each and every one of them for what they have done.”

Lewis returned home in January but was born in August 2006. He was kept in the hospital during that time and is now doing very well.

Erectile Dysfunction - from Bike Riding !

Riding a bike for long periods can cause temporary erectile difficulties, explains What to Do about Erectile Dysfunction, a new report from Harvard Medical School. The risk appears highest among men who cycle more than three hours a week.

Research suggests that riding a bike for long periods can cause temporary erectile difficulties, explains What to Do about Erectile Dysfunction, a new report from Harvard Medical School.

The risk of erectile dysfunction appears highest among men who cycle more than three hours a week.

Erectile dysfunction happens when sitting on a bicycle for a long time puts pressure on the perineum, the area between the genitals and anus. This pressure can harm nerves and temporarily impede blood flow, causing tingling or numbness in the penis and, eventually, erectile dysfunction.

However, one study showed that while a conventional bicycle caused a dramatic (though temporary) drop in oxygen supply to the penis, a recumbent bicycle did not.

If you don’t want to switch to a recumbent bike, these precautions may help you prevent cycling-related erectile problems:

• Wear padded biking shorts.

• Raise the handlebars so that you’re sitting relatively upright. This shifts pressure from the perineum to the buttocks.

• Use a wide, well-padded or gel-filled seat instead a narrow seat, which places more pressure on the perineum.

• Position the seat to reduce pressure: Make sure it is not so high that your legs are fully extended at the bottom of your pedal stroke, and don’t tilt the seat up.

• Change your position and take breaks during long rides.

• If you feel tingling or numbness in the penis, stop riding for a week or two.

Living with acne can be very difficult, and even more difficult to find the right acne treatment for you. There are times when one has to think about alternative, natural, effective treatment methods to get the best cure or solution to their acne, zits, pimples and blackhead problems.

By their mid-teens, nearly 35% of teenagers have acne severe enough to require some treatment from a medical professional. Nearly 17 million people in the United States have acne. Acne is the most common skin disease. People of all races and ages get acne. Baby acne is a rash seen on the cheeks, chin, and forehead of infants. There are several different types of acne.

As time goes by, more research may help determine just how male and female hormones influence acne and the role diet plays. Understanding that hormones may have some influence on the cause of acne needs to be considered.

The cause of acne is really unknown. Doctors think certain factors might cause or contribute to acne including hormone increases in teenage years, hormone changes in pregnancy, starting or stopping birth control pills, heredity, medicines and greasy make-up.

One helpful remedy seems to be to use ice to reduce the swelling caused by inflamed pimples: rub it over the blemishes for 2-3 minutes. Coconut is one of the best treatments I’ve found for acne. Some natural home remedies include dabbing on non-gel toothpaste to dry out zits or lemon juice.

It just takes motivation, a willingness to try it, and diligent application of coconut oil several times a day and at bedtime to see its benefits. It’s easy to treat acne cheaply, simply, naturally, yet effective, at home.

Use baking soda carefully to exfoliate. It’s always best to seek non-invasive treatment for any skin condition.

There are several types of acne scars: ice-pick scars, depressed fibrotic scars, superficial and deep soft scars, and atrophic macules. As a registered nurse, I have learned a lot over the years about acne scars, acne scar treatments, and acne scar removal. The good news is that there are several types of treatments to choose from for acne scar removal.

Drink lots and lots of pure, filtered water. Whether you eat a natural diet with living fruits and vegetables or eat dead junk food, what you eat may have a direct or indirect affect on the male hormones which may play a part in acne.

The liver sluffs off toxins from bad foods, drinks, drugs and chemicals and sends them through your skin resulting in skin eruptions, acne, pimples and other skin disorders. Besides external acne treatment it’s best to work from the inside out too.

Eat high-fiber snacks like raw nuts, raw seeds, and dried fruit, such as dates, and figs. You want to help the skin from the inside out too. For an easy fiber boost, mix in 2 tablespoons of ground up flaxseeds in raw applesauce, from 2-3 apples, made in your food processor.

The skin must be regularly cleaned or it’ll become cracked or inflamed. Functions of the skin are disturbed when it is dirty; it becomes more easily damaged, the release of antibacterial compounds decreases and dirty skin is more prone to develop infections.

Be assured, scientists are constantly looking at new non-invasive ways to treat acne. With cheap, safe, simple, natural, effective, alternative home treatments for acne and pimples, your skin should be well on its way to recovery. In any case, try not to panic about your acne and take it day by day.

How Folic Acid Helps Reduce the Risk of Birth Defects

Nothing is more important that your baby’s health and one good way to help ensure that your baby is born healthy is to make sure you are getting enough folic acid. It has been proven to help prevent very serious birth defects of the brain and spine.

What can happen?
As mentioned earlier, very serious brain and spine defects can occur in newborns without the proper amount of folic acid. The most common defect is spina bifida. This is a condition where the spinal cord is actually partway outside of the body. Babies with spina bifida are often paralyzed and may have or develop problems controlling his or her bodily functions. However, the physical problem of the protruding spine is typically fixed surgically very soon after birth.

The most serious problem that may be cause by a lack of folic acid is anencephaly. Very simply put, this is a condition where the skull and brain does not fully develop. If the baby is not stillborn, which is very common with anencephaly, the baby will usually die within a few hours of being born.

How to get enough folic acid
One very easy way to get enough folic acid is though supplement pills. Many doctors even recommend taking supplements as soon as you plan on becoming pregnant as well as throughout the pregnancy to ensure that your body has enough folic acid to keep the new baby’s brain and spine in healthy order. Another very common source is fortified cereals. Fortified breakfast cereals also help provide a wide range of other important nutrients to a growing fetus such as calcium, iron, and B vitamins. Folic acid is also known as folate so when you are reading labels, stay on the lookout for this either term.

Eating a well balanced diet is always key to getting the nutrients you need. Folic acid is commonly found in a wide range of fruits and vegetables including spinach, oranges, beets, lettuce, artichokes, corn, broccoli as well as various beans or legumes.

Folic acid is a member of the B vitamin family also known as vitamin B9. Since it is a water-soluble vitamin, your body cannot store it for very long. You must get a regular dose of it, whether it be through supplements or through food intake in order to help reduce the risk of birth defects.

Does folic acid eliminate the risk of spinal defects?
Unfortunately, folic acid only aids in the prevention of these types of birth defects. However, the risk is very small. Only around one thousand babies are born with anencephaly in the United States every year and the risk is reduced from three to one percent when the mother takes folic acid before and during pregnancy.
